Visa-free travel to Moscow for Champions League final
Chelsea and Manchester United meet in Moscow on May 21 in the Champions League final and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a decree allowing supporters visa-free travel to Russia.
The move allows anyone carrying a valid ticket to enter and exit Russia without a visa.
It will be effective between May 17 and 25, giving fans a chance to take in the city hassle-free before and after the game.
Up to 50,000 supporters from the two clubs are expected in Moscow on match day.
The British Embassy in Moscow greeted the decision with enthusiasm. “It’s great news, both for the Champions League final next week and for the UEFA Cup final tonight,” said an embassy representative.
Tonight St. Petersburg’s Zenit are hoping to clinch the UEFA cup when they play Glasgow Rangers in Manchester. The British Embassy has been issuing free visas to Russians for the game.
