- Sam,I sure hope the U.S. has very good consentration camps and torture chambers! The worlds population is sick..And most Americans, hope to see an end to democracy and its leberal ideas.I hope and pray the U.S. would continue its war on terror with great anger and agression. The U.S. should create a new empire and close its borders to all non-Americans,inorder to protect the motherland.I think the English should go on trial in an international court for all the genocide it has commited!

- Sorry I cannt comment on whose fault is the set back in the lebanon war cos i dont know but do i think USA foreign policy is making the world more unstable the answer is yes.
1. US backs isreal unconditionally no matter what they do.Vetos every resolution against them.
2.Invades countries on false reasons then think up new reasons afterwards.
3.Drags everyone to international court but does not let its nationals appear before the war courts.
4. expanses its military to the Russia federations borders.Pulls out of treaties as it sees fit.And still complain when the Russian also pull out of treaties which they them selvies have not rectified.
5.Turning a blind eye to atrocities done by their friends eg Saudi Arabia and screaming bloody murder for countries like Serbia.
6.Running concentration camps and torture chambers in the 21st.cent.
And yet is lecturing everyone on democracy. To cut the story short if pointing out that a country is doing wrong makes me anti american so be it.
Oleg at least I am not blind and pro sense.

- Lets hope Poutin's stand will prevent another senseless war.But with the type of fanatics in power in Washington who knows?
If in its final analysis war would be prevented by President Poutin warning to Bush & Co., lets nominate him for the next Nobel!

- Fred,Why would Israil, listen to the CIA?Israil borders Lebanon, and they have a very, very, good Intelligence service..So,I think they know more about what is going on than the U.S. Your statement is just another way to attack the U.S. Much like the other anti-Americans on this forum!

- I agree with Ken that perhaps our leaders are legally insane, (or illegally) and do apologize for myself and other Americans who are appalled by the aggressive and apparently imperialist actions of this non-representative government of the last several years.

- Absolutely. The declaration (sponsored) by Vladimir Putin at the Caspian summit has relieved the threat of US military action against Iran... somewhat. The threat has not been eliminated altogether as the US can still unilaterally carry out whatever actions Mr Bush deems necessary in the US's national (or his corporate buddies personal) interest.
That having being said, Putin's support of the Caspian declaration shows that the US's aim of turning Iran into an isolated, pariah state in the eyes of the international community has failed, certainly at the regional level.
Psychologically, morally, and perhaps even to some degree, militarily, the Iranian govenrnment need no longer fear that it stands alone in the face of Bush's aggressive energy security policy.
Iran's future cooperation with the international community will largely depend on whether certain sections of the international community are prepared to negotiate with Iran in a civilised and respectful manner.

- Iran isn't off the hook yet. the Caspian states have to make an explicit commitment that an injury to one is an injury to all. Russia has to re-establish another regional security body - similar to the Warsaw Pact. but it has to be voluntary for member states. this will be a deterrent to NATO which the US is currently using to weaken and eventually invade Russia.

- I agree with Sam on this. Britain thankfully now has a PM who is plainly appalled by Bush and his foreign policies. Without even the support of its traditional "special friend" and mindful of the Iraq disaster I see little prospect of even the current US administration striking Iranian installations, never mind invading.
- sam October 19, 2007, 09:43
- To be fair to Russia, they never supported the invasion or occupation of Iraq.Pushing USA to do the right thing via UN would be like talking to a brick wall.
The US does not see UN as important until they need it.I too do not see USA attacking Iran, they do not have the resources or man power to open another front.I do not think many countries in the NATO would give much help.
We the british voters for one could not have the same trick of WMD played on us again and they would not even try.In fact this is a sure way now to be kicked out of government in most european countries.
The Iranians know this and are truely not afraid so time to stop the barking and start talking. In event it does happen it would not be a "picnic" like Iraq.Remember they was no sanctions so they are well armed and motivated. If am not mistaken did not Russia sell them the new surface to air that picks up stealth? as well as AMS.
USA system of fighting is santion them ,starve them and when weakened invade them would not work this time.

- How can Russia help to prevent a Bush attack on Iran if Russia supports the US occupation of Iraq? Would Russia's leadership also support a US occupation of Russia?
Also, world leaders know that US secret Government is always ready to call in their threats when world leaders get together without the US. Putin did well to publish Bush's baseless threats upon the Iran visit so that the threats be seen as baseless by the entire world.
But the bravery can't stop there. Putin could have added that the US army should be ordered by the UN to deliver only food, medical, and civilian infrastructure to Iraq. Putin also ignored that the US builds 14 permanent bases in Iraq for a permanent illegal occupation. Would this type of US action be supported in Iran? or in Russia? The world wants and needs to know.

- oleg ...
Israel is not going to strike Iran !
they have got something in common with russians = "pragmatism"
after the nightare in Lebannon (on C.I.A. intelligence datas , "sold" to the israelis as rock-solid , and finally being higly inaccurate ...)
i don't think israelis are going to commit twice the same mistake (listening blindly to what "grand-pa bush" is saying )
and about the needed forces for americans to strike Iran , it's already gone to the sewage ...
if you take into consideration , US army had to pull troops out of afghanistan to face the Iraq problems , i am 90% sure they cannot get into an other trap without enroling in force american citizens ...
- Ken October 18, 2007, 08:16
- I am afraid our President is legally insane. I would not be surprised if he attacked Iran...many of us are against him but he seems to listen to nobody. I apologize to the rest of the world that we elected [him - edited, RT]. I really have enjoyed having peace between the east and the west...now who knows what we have.

- The results of the conference may relieve tension between the 5 nations, YET THE MOST SERIOUS ISSUE IS BETWEEN THE US (EU) and IRAN!
- oleg October 17, 2007, 22:53
- Its not the U.S. that would attack Iran, its Israil.
- sam October 17, 2007, 19:42
