The fact that the nuclear WEAPONS giants of the world should want to have a monopoly on nuclear enrichment is nothing more than racism.

The EU has opposed Iranian enrichment under pressure from the USA.
Forget about 'diplomacy'. If the EU really wanted to ensure the Iranian enrichment was for peaceful purposes, then they would establish friendly security cooperation with Iran, and others.

Everyone knows well by now that the US should be stripped of its permission to be the holder of nuclear weapons, for a start.
And while you're at it, inspect every radioactive-capable facility in the US and British territories (including world military bases and secret prisons.)

We are already having a problem with Polonium 210- that can be produced not only by a nuclear reactor, but also from NEUTRON POWER SOURCES- ranging in size from Small, Medium, and Large. Would you like fries with that? How about some coke?

Johann, thanks for your comment. People need to pay more attention to HISTORICAL and TRADITIONAL ties.

Yes there is PROOF- the current holidays underway in the East, mainly the holidays, PURIM and NOWROOZ- celebrated by the Persian (Iranian) cultures that coincide with the Hebrew celebrations- show the real affinities between the Yahudim (Jews) and Iranians (Persian) peoples.
Perhaps Russians know a bit about Purim, that it was the celebration of the Hebrews escape from annihilation in ancient Persia.
But most people, including Russians, are not so aware of the fact that the entire Persian Empire became believers in the Hebrew religion (became Jews) as a result of the event of Purim. This explains why, even to this day, those people celebrate holidays at the same time in the same region.

Meanwhile, who is left out of the festivities?? Saudi Arabia, and other traditional, historical enemies of both Israel and Persia (Iran), that are also today's top sources of radical and fundamentalist-extremist VIOLENT groups. So we can see that Bush & Co are just telling lies about Iran being the enemy of the Yahudim and of the true Israel.

Which is why traditional Jewish leaders (Orthodox Rabbis) are friends of even today's Islamic Republic of Iran and its 'firebrand' leader, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. How else can that friendship exist, if the Holy Land of the Yahudim (Jews) is Israel and Iran had plans to destroy the sacred land??

Plus, plus, plus!! The real Hebrew New Year, as celebrated by the Hebrews in Esther's time, was at this time in the month of Abib. Thereby, the Iranians prove themselves even more as Hebrews by celebrating the New Year now. If in doubt read:
Purim is celebrated the 14th day of the 12TH Hebrew month (Adar). The month that follows is the FIRST Hebrew month (Abib).
Exodus 12:1, Exodus 13:4 "This shall be the first month of the year to you"
The Hebrew Passover is the 14th day of the first month.

But, when do US's Islamic country allies (Saudi Arabia, etc) celebrate their New Year? At the same time that the Western Jewish do- in the fall time- at the end of the harvest season. there is no doubt that the US alliance with the historical enemies of Israel and its allies, the Persians, is convenient for the Saudis in the plan to erase the memory of Israel forever. The Creator forbid!

Russia is only strengthening itself through solidarity with the Hebrews and their true friends- by helping to build up the infrastructure of Iran- and that includes the nuclear power plants.

Dear Ladies & Gentlemen

Let get to the basics…
Nuclear power is safest and one of the most effective ways to produce electricity. Electricity is a basic most important necessity of 21century. You cannot have any industry, banks, hospitals, institutions, etc without it. It is THE major factor of economy in any economy in this world. To simplify things… like having computer & internet to go to Russiatoday.ru and post an opinion on how cool electricity is.
If we were talking about Australia… people would say sure they need power and they have uranium… combine the two – recipe for success, nobody would mind but Britain.

Iran on other hand is one of the main players in Middle East, they have some really bad quality uranium(maybe all; that I don’t know) and they need electricity to get out from stone age to start some economy outside oilfields, and sell electricity to neighboring countries like Iraq(if you notice footage that come from that place in night is always pitch-black dark). But it would make them a SuperPower in the region.
30 years ago US endorsed Iran massive nuclear program and supplied them. For 30 something years Iran didn’t build a nuclear explosive device or a bomb and defiantly not a warhead, and that is 50+ year old technology!

Maybe current Iranian leader with some obvious characteristics of a provocateur and some occasional compromised logic would decide to make political decision to build one device and they wouldn’t be able to, because they don’t have enough material/technology necessary to create one. And if you listen carefully what official people with official data say in statements from both side of the world you will hear there is no threat today. Thus it can be avoided.

But as next guy I agree that people should not have nuclear weapons. I don’t want anyone(China, India, Pakistan, Britain, Israel, U.S or Russia) to have nukes especially Iran.

Best Regards

Not at all, contrary,Iran has one of the oldiest culture in the world even thogh is a muslim country. In that area ,Iran is the mostly westernised country in the good sense.Only because some powers are painted him as a "danger"doesn't means that everybody has to danse alongside them. Now there are sanctions imposed on Iran(politcally,Iran and Serbia are in the same boat)Both of them are eager to have friends, who are free enough to give them help,to ease the isolation in wich they are forced to live. Now the catholic cristians are in hollyday-Eastern,but does somebody remind what Jesus said:"...I was thirsty and you give me to drink,I was hungry and you give me to eat,I was in prison and you come to me..."

No, I don't think so.
Western countries are looking for a scape goat to punish hence usa planting nuclear warheads on Russia's doorstep.
Russia is expanding its knowledge by assisting others to better themselves and then at the same time watching the environment from lessons it has learnt.
usa and its puppy dog (england) are furious of this fact and are conjuring ways of trying to keep the lid on Russia's expansion.
Iran is not going be that foolish to go down another route by stabbing Russia in the back. If that be the case I think Iran will have than their plate full, just with Russia alone.
Let us see how the Iraq war started! From conjured up lies by the west and usa needed an ignition (excuse). I notice that this same treatment is not been dished out in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Somalia and other places.
The real danger is from the west not from Russia and the sooner people realise this fact the better.

In line with the topic,Russia is not endangering itself and the rest of the world by helping Iran build a nuclear power plant.
The enrichment plant is not being build by Russia and therefore is another Issue.

As Cheburashka stated,Russia as per agreement will be supplying the fuel and taking the waste back.

Russia happens to be very much against the enrichment facility. For what ever reason.Be it for security or economic.
Car retailers would just love it if they could sell you a car that is going to use fuel only from their own petrol station.
Cheburashka       March 23, 2008, 07:34
Does the nuclear waste that will get generated cannot be used for Bombs etc?

which is why Russia will be taking it all back. they know exactly how much will be genereted. i doubt that iran will want to make moscow angry by not complying with the agreement since moscow is pretty much the one holding the US from starting another war (indirectly of course). the way i see it (and correct me if im wrong) is if there will be "approval" from moscow it will be open season on iranians.

Sam says - However I do not think the USA would go to war over it. The USA is in no position to open another front.
They may try to bomb the enrichment facility but would not find it easy as Iran is buying up the S300s from Russia!

Is the plant that RF is building the bone of contention, or the enrichment facilities?
Does the nuclear waste that will get generated cannot be used for Bombs etc?
Does any nuclear plant waste anywhere in the world not be used for generating missile materials?

Question is of trust and will...
About S-300's, granted! But will it defend the Iranian women and children from all out offensive by NATO/US forces?

The matter of the fact is - that there are two standards of trust/needs/deeds/standards prevailing in the world as of now-
One for the non-WASP, Neo-cons/NATO, West, call what you may...
One for the rest...
And thus 'renegades' like Israel, Pakistan etc exist!

Nobody denies Iran the right to develop Nuclear Energy, not even Bush, but the question is of trust and building of it!
That is where RF, China, others may step in - who are trusted both by the 'West' as well as by the rest!

Sam       March 22, 2008, 07:29
Vijay the topic is if Russia is endangering herself by building the nuclear plant and my reply is about that plant.
Russia is not building the enrichment facility and in fact is against it.

However I do not think the USA would go to war over it.The USA is in no position to open another front.
They may try to bomb the enrichment facility but would not find it easy as Iran is buying up the S300s from Russia. The same upgraded systems the Serbs used to bring down the stealth aircrafts over Serbia.
Vijay       March 21, 2008, 23:33
Sam says - If Iranians do not have the experts to run the plant,I am sure they would hire expatriates to do so and not just hand it over to a group of teenagers.

That means essentially, that if there are no compromises on either side, it means war!
Since, as Bush says, "under no circumstances, will Iran be (allowed) to develop Independent means of enrichment".
And Ahmedjinidad is adamant to the contrary...
The result = WAR,
UNLESS, someone compromises or someone after either of these two compromises!

This war, if it happens, god forbid, will not only mean the end of Iran, as we know it...
But the end of U.S. itself...as we know it!
Politically, Geo-politically and economically!

And if anything to that sort happens, an Iranian child's heart wrenching cry seeing the end of 'hope' AND the disappearance of 'future' would be the cause of that!

Sam       March 20, 2008, 08:57
If Iranians do not have the experts to run the plant,I am sure they would hire expatriates to do so and not just hand it over to a group of teenagers.

As for accidents happening, well the more "responsible" countries like the USA and USSR could not stop the Three mile Island or Chernobyl from happening.
Vijay Singh       March 18, 2008, 21:11
Sam says - rrdalson why do you think that Iranians are not responsible enough to handle it?

Well, for a number of reasons - among them, it being a new technology for them, so there's no Chernobyl or Three Mile type of scenario,so that if suppose a few International observers (primarily Chinese, Russian or any trusted nationality) could dissipate some imaginary/'real' concerns of the west, and finally that the Iranians finally can really enjoy the fruits of Nuclear power in peace...

Howeve, the moot question is that whether the Neo-Cons/cronies really 'trust'any non-westerner overseeing a non-western Nuclear Programme?
But isn't that bad for the Nuclear Industry as a whole - I mean a western monopoly??
Sam       March 18, 2008, 09:36
rrdalson why do you think that Iranians are not responsible enough to handle it?
rrdalson       March 18, 2008, 08:17
Please do not give this power to Iran. They do not seem yet to be responsible enough to handle it.
Cheburashka       March 17, 2008, 01:34
Iran claims they want a pieceful (spelling?) program. Russia said "ok we will build a reactor so that iran doesnt have to develop its own program, and will take back the used up rods and the enriched material if any". iran agreed. personally i see no harm in it. whatever happened to "being innicent before proven guilty"? oh wait sounts like the same soaped up bubble as in iraq where they couldnt find anything, even after all these years...

even if eventually iran did make 1 or 2 small bombs, i think they would cling to them as if they were gold rather than just sell them away to someone or use them up like the usa did. if they were to make them it would give them leverage against being bullied by the west.

iran doesnt pose any threat to russia because russia can wipe it off the map without breaking a sweat. and because russia is intered in doing busines and not conquests "for freedom and democracy" like the usa does.
