GET IT OFF YOUR CHEST - As we see more women succeed in occupations regarded as "macho". Do you think this division has outlived its time?

Women had always made an impact on history directly or indirectly if men allow them.
some of the greatest historical figures like already mentioned Elizabeth 1 and victoria not to forget catharine the great etc etc had changed the world for ever
more recently we have women like Marie Curie and her work on radiation.Dino, you can tell india that indira gandhi was minor.tell the same to germany, united kingdom and more. The fact is no sex is better then the other.some jobs are more in line for one sex or other and thats all.By the way is it me or i get the impression that Dino is a Troll.

@ Dino: "Minor"?! You mean that a Nobel Award in astrophysics, medicine, chemistry, physics means nothing?? Somebody should inform all those poor scientist that they have just wasted their time :-)
You haven't read carefully what I wrote: I haven't mentioned any women in the "entertaining industry" (apart from just 3 film directors), but I have mentioned a lot of founders and heads of enormous corporations, heads of states, presidents, prime ministers, queens. Queen Elizabeth I, for example, is recognized by all the historians to have been "the best king Britain ever had" and she founded the British empire, which flourished and expanded under her reign. But probably she wasted her time too, because according to Mr. Dino she should have better stayed at home, knitting socks. I have the impression that either you are just a teenager (if not younger than that) or you haven't opened a book when you were at school. Therefore, answering your gibberish is really a waste of time.

"Margo" Nice of you to copy and paste all those "Minor" female achievers...how about posting some MAJOR players that the whole world might recognize? I still challenge you. By the way you mentioned a bunch of females in the entertainment industry...In which I made it clear to exclude, I don't think the entertainment industry has contributed very much to better mankind as a whole. Don't get me wrong females should participate in male dominated areas of excellence...only if they can pull there own weight and get NO special favors and only on merit and achievement!

Women are not equal to men as are men are not equal to women. Men on average CAN do some tasks better than women and women on average CAN do some tasks better than men.
There is no divide between men and women just the lingering mental divide. In parts of the U.S. women make MUCH more than men, as well as in parts of the U.S. men make much more than women. There is certainly no "equality' but there IS a balance, an equilibrium.

Woman can do any job, as well as men. I have seen women driving trucks, buses, even working with the pneumatic hammer. There are women miners, explorers, rangers, security, and so on and so forth.

@ Dino, what a lovely personality you have! I really envy your wife, what a lucky woman (if you do have a wife)...
Do you know that up to the XIX th century women were not allowed into universities and academies? Men like yourself prevented women from voting and further educating themselves. Very rarely a woman could study up to a level that equalled men's education. Nevertheless, there were hundreds (not dozens) of great women all through history and there are many more women today who are giving a very valuable contribution to science, industry and culture.

Duh, Dino-saur.... did you ever think that the lack of women in these fields might just be a result of men actively working to prevent them from ever getting access? Go back to your cave painting, troglodyte!
Dino       September 8, 2007, 06:15
"AL" did you take your Medication Today? Men are smarter than women...always has always will be. Name 10 women mathematicians, astro physics scientist. Name 10 female CEOS of major corporations (not in entertainment)?
You CAN'T!

Just what are you asking? What occupations are considered "macho"? Truckdrivers, heavyweight boxers, NFL linemen? Perhaps as CEOs? Women when it comes to brainpower are the equal (if not better) than men. There will always be divisions between men and women especially in the physical realm. Intellect is a different matter. In some respects attitudes towards the sexes are dated and obsolete in others they are not.
