- to excuse such an act = NO! to understand the Why = yes absolutely !
the guy spend years already in jail , and is going to be "jailed" for the rest of his life into his tragedy ...
off-course no one is supposed to do justice for himself ...
but at the same time , one can only see the result of disregarding a tragic accident made by foolishness and greed (skyguide) and the "no big deal reaction" about the fate of thoses killed kids ...
as well as if they would have been european kids (swiss or german) or US citizens , hell itself would have fallen on skyguide the minute after ...
so it's only justice to released that poor guy , and good for swiis supreme court to be able to acknoledge the matter should have never been treated the way it was !

- I feel sorry for this man. And I have to admit, I admire him. Not for murdering the dispatcher (this is, of course, awful), but for doing what he thought was right and for paying the consequences with dignity. He didn't run, did he? He admitted he did it and he paid the price. I think he's very noble and deserves a lot of respect.

- I have to say I feel for this man. Was what he did right? No. Is he evil? No. This man has the worst fate of all of the people involved, he has to live without his loved ones. Was Neilson evil? No. Was he guilty? In part. He has paid the price. The real guilt lies with the corporate entity Skyguide and the management of the company and their policies IMO. They have not been punished enough.

- To start with, This double tradegy could be very much avoided.
All Blaim lies with Skyguide.
1.They caused the crash pure and simple and should have accepted it from the start. It took 3 years for them to say sorry for christ sake. They refused to met the families totally.so those people waited for long for closure.
2.The germans let Kaloyev onto the crash site. The man found his own baby daugthers body for crying out loud.
3.Skyguide made Peter Nielsen a scapegoat, granted its his mistake that resulted in the pilots not following the anti collision warning on board their aircrafts but skyguide had its systems down and only one guy in tower.
I can understand why that guy flipped. He headed for Nielsen cos skygulde told him he was to blaim and was not punished.I think he served a fair time in prison for his crime. But i think he was punished from day of crash and for the rest of his life.
As for the family of Nielsen i do hope they took skyguide to court.
As for the people who gave him a hero's welcome, well they have the right to welcome anyone the way the please.A criminal investigation of the Skyguide begun as of May 2004. On August 7, 2006, a Swiss prosecutor filed manslaughter charges against eight employees of Skyguide. The Winterthur prosecutor called for jail terms of six to 15 months, alleging "homicide by negligence".The verdict was announced in September 2007. Three of the four managers convicted were given suspended prison terms and the fourth was ordered to pay a fine. Another four employees of the Skyguide firm were cleared of any wrongdoing.Bravo what great punishment.By the way they are still to pay compensation to a large number of families.

- No excuse for murder.......a hero his not, and the media should not make him one, it sends a bad message that what he did is acceptable.

- This man is no hero , so when i read the term " returns to a hero's wel
come" this really turns my stomac. I know he lost his family so deserves sympathy, but so did other's and they did not feel the need to stab a man to death in front of his family.
in my opinion he should have served more time for this crime.

- Well grief and tradegey effects everybody ,probably excusable in a state of irrational behaviour.something personal is almost impossible to be felt in its fullest from outsiders.
