Futile quest for Darwin award?

Death is a reluctant guest for some people. A villager in the Southern Urals failed to take his life several times – the last one by blowing himself up.

The unnamed man tried to commit suicide several times over his life but every time failed, reports Interfax news agency. Local emergencies service said his self-destructive urge overtakes him when he drinks too much.

In the latest episode he tried to arrange a visit from the Grim Ripper by blowing himself up. He locked himself in a shed along with a 50-liter propane cylinder, then released the gas and lit a match.

The resulting explosion hurled the man right through the door, leaving him with several bruises and singed hair. The shed was less lucky loosing its roof and having its wall damaged – not to mention the destroyed door.

In case the incident ended tragically and his suicide attemept was a success it could be a solid case for getting the Darwin award which is given to people who ‘remove themselves from the gene pool’ of humanity in a stupid fashion.
