Ovechkin wipes cake off his face

Olympic ice hockey champion Aleksey Kovalev has thrown a cake into the face of Aleksandr Ovechkin named this season's Most Valuable Player in the NHL. It happened during a master class which the world-famous hockey players were giving for children in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod.

They were signing autographs when Kovalev said he would like to present his colleague with a sweet ‘surprise’.

He brought to the rink a large whipped cream cake and threw it into Ovechkin’s face.

“Very tasty,” was Ovechkin’s comment.

The joke excited the young hockey players and numerous media men and provoked wild applause.

Later Ovechkin said he is not at all offended as Kovalev is his old friend and he understands Aleksey’s joke.
