‘It’s the same as watching porn’
That’s what one film director compares his film about snowboarding to. At the premiere at one of Moscow's leading film venues, Russian riders were hoping to attract more people to snowboarding.
A film about life on the slopes called “Kitchen” stole the show at Moscow’s Pushkinsky cinema.
“The main purpose of the film is to make people ride,” said director Pavel Karykhalin.
And he also explains his ‘porn’ metaphor: “You're watching porn and it evokes desire. This snowboarding film is the same, just a different kind of desire”.
According to the creators, “Kitchen” stands out against other Russian snowboard movies from previous years. It features the world's most famous and picturesque spots, like Greenland, Canada, Chile and many more.
Highlighting the skills and styles of riders, "Kitchen" is more than just a collection of breathtaking tricks. It's about the harnessing of man’s will against the powers of nature. Dizzying heights, the astonishing beauty of landscapes, speed and danger all feature.
The crew spent more than two hundred days filming and broke 32 snowboards.
