Paula Slier

Paula Slier is Russia Today’s Middle East correspondent.

She has reported for the channel from Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

In 2006, Paula covered the Israel-Lebanon war from the frontline. She also reported extensively on Hamas’ rise to power, the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s hospitalisation, and his successor Ehud Olmert’s election victory.

Paula has interviewed Lebanese President Emile Lahoud, head of the Lebanese parliament Saad Hariri, former Lebanese President Amin Gemayel, Israeli Vice-Premier and former Prime Minister Shimon Peres, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniye and Hamas Foreign Minister Mahmoud Al Zahar.

Prior to joining Russia Today, she worked as a senior reporter, anchor and news editor for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). She has an honours degree in Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and International Relations from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
