Yulia Shapovalova
Yulia Shapovalova joined the Russia Today Channel shortly after its launch in 2005.
First she combined the duties of a Broadcast Journalist with the ones of a general assignment reporter. Since February 2006, Shapovalova has covered a variety of different stories ranging from political and technological ones to social and medical. She has also made a series of special reports on AIDS, racism in and homeless children. She has covered events in the aviation industry and explained customs and traditions of people living on the territories of Russia.
Shapovalova has interviewed Russia's most prominent figures from all spheres of life, including former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, former Russian Prime Minister Evgeny Primakov, former head of Central Bank Victor Geraschenko, Duma Deputies, and Russian Fashion Designers and show business identities.
Prior to joining Russia Today, Shapovalova worked as a public affairs manager for one of the biggest Russian energy companies "LUKOIL".
Shapovalova graduated from the State University of Saratov, gaining a degree in English Language and Foreign and Russian Literature; The Russian Academy of Civil Service and The First National Institute of Television.
