Fedorov quits NHL

Washington Capitals star Sergey Fedorov has left the NHL and signed a two-year contract with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the KHL, Sportbox.ru reports.
Earlier it was reported that the 39-year-old’s salary will be around $3.8 million per season.
Other KHL clubs – CSKA Moscow and SKA Saint Petersburg – also wanted their hands on the forward, but Metallurg showed the greatest interest.
The move means Sergey Fedorov will team up with his younger brother Fedor, who just joined the Magnitogorsk team from Neftekhimik.
Sergey Fedorov started his career in 1986 at CSKA Moscow in the Soviet hockey championship. He went to the NHL in 1991. Playing for the Detroit Red Wings, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Washington Capitals, he spent 1248 matches in the league, scoring 1179 points (483 goals and 696 assists), which is more than any other Russian player.
Fedorov also won the Stanley cup three times and was named NHL player of the year in 1994.
