New giant-killer in Paris

There is a new giant-killer in tennis at the French Open. Robin Soderling concluded his run to the Roland Garros final, after taking down Fernando Gonzalez in a grueling five-set battle.
Previously, the Swede had also slain world number one Rafael Nadal and then Nikolay Davydenko on his way to the penultimate round in Paris.
Sod, as he is known, seized the initiative in his match with Gonzalez right from the start, winning the opening set 6-3. The 24-year-old grabbed the second 7-5, but his Chilean opponent bounced back to grab the next two and tie proceedings.
But Soderling was determined to make it to his first-ever final in 21 major tournaments, sealing the final set 6-4, coming back from having been 4-1 behind.
In the final, the Swede will face the resistance of Roger Federer who beat Juan Martin Del Potro 3-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the day’s other semifinal.
