Leaders Rubin Kazan had to press till the final seconds to salvage a draw against Amkar on Match Day 9 of Russia’s Premier League.
Amkar Perm 2-2 Rubin Kazan
League toppers Rubin were facing an injury crisis ahead of the clash in the Siberian city of Perm.
Striker Aleksandr Bukharov, midfielders Kaleshin, Bystrov and Ryazantsev were all still recovering from knocks, while defender Sesar Navas was ruled out after picking up his fourth yellow card.
Amkar put the hosts under pressure from the very beginning. They controlled the ball and created some good chances in front of Sergey Ryzhikov goals.
Rubin, known for its pragmatic football, needed just one attack to open the score. Domingues found Roman Adamov on in the box at 20 minutes. The striker shot on the move, putting the ball into the lower corner, 0-1.
Amkar was not fazed one bit. The hosts continued to play their game. Jean Carlos equalized seven minutes later. The Brazilian raced into Rubin’s box, dribbled through defender Aleksey Popov, who moved from Perm to Kazan at the beginning of the season, and left Ryzhikov no chance, equaling the score 1-1.
The striker was substituted due to injury at the end of the first half. After the game doctors said he had broken his calf bone.
Bulgarian Martin Kushev put Amkar in front, scoring from the penalty spot after 42 minutes, 2-1. Dimitar Dimitrov’s men went into the halftime break leaders.
Last year’s champions Rubin kept looking for chances to level the score in the second half, but failed to find any till the fifth minute of injury time, when captain Sergey Semak escaped the Amkar defence and shocked the local crowd, ending the match 2-2.
“It’s hard to say anything now. I don’t know how it happened. I think the match already ended before Rubin scored. A lack of concentration from Kalashnikov in just one episode and we’ve lost two points,” Dimitar Dimitrov, Amkar coach, said.
The Kazan team now has 18 points after nine games, while Amkar sit 13th in the table with eight points.
Lokomotiv Moscow 4-0 Terek Grozny
Loko wasted little time dealing with the visitors from the Chechen Republic, solidly demolishing them over the course of the entire game.
Peter Odemwingie avoided Terek’s offside trap and rendezvoused with the keeper. The Nigerian’s shot was not perfect, but goalkeeper Andrey Dikan failed to deal with the ball that flew straight into him, 1-0.
The hosts doubled their lead after with Odemwingie being the most efficient man in a scrum in Terek’s box to grab his second goal of the game.
The Grozny team gave up after Danel Panku was sent off for his second yellow at 64 minutes, and conceded again, with Railway Men midfielder Denis Glushakov putting his name on the scoreboard.
Odemwingie could’ve completed his hat-trick later in the game, but missed out on a few good opportunities. Yet it was Terek themselves who helped the hosts to accomplish the thrashing as Cameroonian defender Jean Bouli cut the ball into his own net, 4-0.
Lokomotiv substitute coach Vladimir Maminov remains undefeated three matches in a row, and the team, who now have 13 points, are still to concede a goal under him.
Rostov 1-1 Spartak Nalchik
Rostov saved their home game with another late equalizer of the day. Bramimir Petrovich scored at 92 minutes to upset Nalchik, who were in front during most of the game thanks to a goal from Leandro.
Khimki Moscow Region 1-1 FC Moscow
In the late match of the day third-placed FC Moscow earned a one-all draw against bottom of the table Khimki.
Yury Kirillov gave Khimki a boost two minutes before halftime. A cross went unchallenged, and Kirrilov pounced to give the home-side the lead going into the break.
However, FC Moscow fans didn’t have to wait too long for a response, when at 57 minutes, Martin Jakubko got on the end of a floated free-kick to head the Muscovites level.
1-1 was the final score. Miodrag Bozhovic’s side missed the chance to go joint top. They instead stay two points behind leaders Rubin.
