Rain can’t spoil Button’s day in Malaysia

Jenson Button has collected his second win out if two races in the Formula 1 season after claiming the Malaysian Grand Prix, which was stopped because of rain with 23 laps to go.
Williams’ Nico Rosberg had the best possible start on a grey day in Kuala Lumpur. He began the second row on the grid, but entered the first turn as race leader. Jensen Button’s unlucky retaliation saw the pole position holder drop to fourth place, with Toyota’s Jarno Trulli and Renault’s Fernando Alonso ahead of him and teammate Rubins Barichello right behind.
The Spanish two times F1 champ was not fast enough to withstand the attacks of Brawn GP drivers for a long time and both Button and Barichello passed him after a couple of laps.
The rain was to be expected during the Grand Prix, but nobody expected the shower to be so heavy that it would make the conditions impossible for racing.
Thanks to a clever pit stops strategy it was Jenson Button who ended up back in the lead, when the red flags appeared with 24 laps to go.
Sauber‘s Nick Heidfeld was second, Toyota’s Timo Glock came out third, while Trulli dropped to fourth, with Barichello, Mark Webber, defending champ Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg and claiming positions fifth to eighth respectively.
Those are the official results, as the rain didn’t stop and the race got no restart.
The English Brawn GP man, Jenson Button, has earned his second win out of two in 2009, while he also took pole positions for both Australian and Malaysian Grand Prix’s.
