Medvedev calls for world democracies' urgent meeting

Russian President Medvedev has backed a Japanese call for an urgent meeting of the World's Major industrialised democracies but said a wider range of participants was needed. The statement was made in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek where the leaders of former Soviet states gathered to discuss ways of reducing the affect of world economic crisis.

CIS leaders have decided to set up a working group to finance ministers from the members states in attempt to tackle the financial crisis.
