There's been an explosion in the Abkhazian capital Sukhum. It's been reported that a vehicle containing about 50 kg of explosives was detonated near the building of the Security Service Office. There were no casualties.

Abkhazian investigators have launched a criminal case into the blast. They say it may have been a terror attack aimed at overshadowing the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

Another version is that the explosion targeted the head of the republic's security service Yury Ashuba as the car stuffed with explosives was parked under his window.

Russian experts will take part in the investigation.
