This is an era of Soviet History which can never be forgotten, not by the Russian people nor by the rest of us (I am an American woman). It has always struck me as incredible that the Russian Government's ability to think of the Russian people as "expendable" and act with total disregard for the lives and welfare of its people. This was true in the 16th century during the time of "Ivan the Terrible" and no less true in the 20th century under Stalin.

For all those millions who perished in Gulag camps, I am sorry.....for those of us who live now, let us resolve never to forget their sufferings...it is the least we owe them. We study History so that it should not be repeated.

Thank you,
