9 more Russian aid-planes head to China

Published 24 May, 2008, 10:29

A further nine Russian airplanes carrying relief aid are on their way to China to help tackle the aftermath of the earthquake there. They'll deliver tents, blankets and field kitchens. The first plane from Russia's emergencies ministry arrived two days after the quake.

Russian rescuers were the only foreigners who managed to pull a person from the rubble alive.

The quake hit China almost two weeks ago. More than 60,000 are known to have died and more than 26,000 are reported missing.
