Missing: St Pete's eagles fly their nest

The bronze eagles from the famous Aleksandr Column in Russia's second city, St. Petersburg, have taken flight. The two-headed statues went missing along with bronze spears – both are symbols of the Russian Empire.
Workers discovered they were no longer there while dismantling a winter skating rink at Palace Square.
Restorers and investigators are being brought in to look into the case.
The Aleksandr Column was built in 1834 to commemorate the Russian Empire's victory over Napoleon in 1812.
