Youth push for breakaway regions’ recognition

Young people from three breakaway regions have taken their campaign for recognition to the streets of Moscow. Youth organisations from Georgia’s breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and Moldova’s Transdniester held the demonstration at the German Embassy.
Dubbed “Recognise the Unrecognised”, the protest site was chosen in memory of Germany's reunification in 1990.
It comes just a day before Russia’s lower house, the State Duma, consider the plight of unrecognised provinces of the former Soviet Union.
There are two Ossetian republics now: South Ossetia, which proclaimed independence from Georgia but isn't recognised by any state, and North Ossetia, which is part of Russia.
