Published 12 March, 2008, 00:39

In Moscow, a man threatening to blow himself up in a car parked outside the Federal Security Service headquarters has surrendered to the police.

The 35-year-old man explained that he made the threats to attract attention to what he called “the difficult situation in Russia”.

It took police about two hours of talks with the man to get him to leave the car.

However, no explosives have been found in the vehicle. The traffic in the area has already been restored.
