U.S. to modernize Polish army as part of missile deal

Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, has held talks in Washington with with President George Bush. Top of the agenda was the anti-missile defence shield that the U.S. wants to build in Eastern Europe.
Following the talks it was announced that the U.S. is to help modernize the Polish army as part of a missile defence deal.
The U.S. wants to locate elements of a missile defence system in Poland and the Czech Republic. It plans to place ten missile interceptors on Polish soil.
The U.S. says it will protect NATO and EU countries from attacks from states like Iran and North Korea.
The proposal is fiercely opposed by Moscow.
