Thatcher taken to hospital for tests

Published 08 March, 2008, 02:38

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has been taken to hospital in London for tests. The eighty-two year Conservative, dubbed the 'Iron Lady', is reported to be in a stable condition. She is expected to remain in hospital overnight for observation.

After suffering a series of small strokes in 2002, she was forced to cancel her busy public speaking schedule. She now rarely appears in public but often attends private functions.
