Fedorov bros choose mirror numbers

Former NHL superstar Sergey Fedorov and his younger brother Fedor have chosen the numbers under which they’ll play for Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the upcoming KHL season.
Sergey Fedorov will wear the number 18 on the back of his shirt and the choice has some history behind it.
“Before heading to the US, I was with CSKA Moscow for four years. 18 was my number at that time. And now I’ve decided to take it again,” Sergey Fedorov said to Sport-Express newspaper.
Fedor Fedorov went for number 81, the Metallurg Magnitogorsk official website reports.
Sergey stressed he and his brother never agreed to choose mirror numbers, saying it is just a coincidence.
Three-time Stanley cup winner Sergey Fedorov has left the Washington Capitals and signed a two-year contract with Metallurg this summer.
The 39-year-old is going to be paid $3.8 million a year in the Russian club.
He explained the move as based on his desire to play together with his brother, who also joined Magnitka in recent months.
”There’s 99 per cent certainty that they [Fedorov brothers] will play together. There’s just a tiny possibility that things could go the other way. But above hockey, there are psychological aspects. We realize that everybody will benefit if the brothers play together,” Gennady Velichkin, Matallurg Magnitigorsk CEO, said.
