Russian footballer of the year bound for Barca or Juve?

Published 23 December, 2008, 17:19

CSKA Moscow winger Yury Zhirkov is expected to leave the Russian Premier League during the winter.

In an interview with Russia's Sport Express newspaper his agent is quoted as saying that several giants of European football are interested in the striker's services.

More specifically, he mentioned Italy's Juventus and Spain's Barcelona.

The agent added that three leading clubs from the English Premiership have also showed an interest.

At the moment he is trying to work out the best deal for the Russian international and will then forward it to the CSKA management.

Yury Zhirkov was voted ‘Player of the Year’ by the Russian Football Union last season and won a bronze medal with the national team at Euro-2008.
