Army men make final of VTB Cup

Published 22 December, 2008, 15:57

CSKA Moscow have made the finals of VTB Promo Cup. Ettore Messina's men thrashed Ukrainian side BK Kiev 88-58.

CSKA entered the game as hot favourites, having shown their class on Saturday, with an 82-67 thrashing of Latvia’s ASK, and hoped to power their way into the final.

But they couldn't get into the match early on. J.R. Holden and company missed a lot of shots in the first quarter. However, Trojan Langdon put the home side in front late in the opening period.

The Muscovites started their breakthrough later on, courtesy of Russian international Aleksander Kaun and Trajan Langdon. It was men against boys in the second half as well, as BK Kiev allowed the Army men to have too much space.

88-58 for the Army men was the final score – an easy win for CSKA, but they face a much tougher test on Monday, when they play big rivals, Khimki, in the decider.
