I can see what the Americans want in resuming NATO-Russian cooperation - they want cooperation from Russia for their activities in Afghanistan. What I cannot see is what Russia will get out of it. There is no undertaking to drop the missile shield program nor is there any undertaking not to bring Georgia and/or Ukraine into NATO. It looks as if the move was timed for Obama's visit, to give the US president a political gift. I imagine the Russian president would be demanding something concrete in return, whilst pointing to the SALT treaty that America abandoned, to the missile shield program that would have breached said treaty, to the unpopular US-sponsored presidents in Georgia and Ukraine and moves to bring these countries into NATO. Obama seems to be good at speeches but perhaps Russia has cause to expect more.
It seems to me that, as usual, Russia will be put to sleep by the romances of the USA and their NATO puppets. As far as I know, there are no russian military installations in Canada or Mexico. Refering to the recent past, it is difficult to justify any collaboration in the Afghan mess which was created by who you know. America has been and still is the initiator of all WMD (weapons of mass'destruction) that humanity possess. They do not want to relinquist the big expenditures that the Military-Industrial-Complex provide worldwide (over 1000 billions € a year: 65% made in USA). They will not mind having a few russians as corrupted partners and later on, having the same accord with China and others. Most russians, still don't understand how snicky are the western decisions' makers. Is-it what your leaders wish to obtain in that Mocow-meeting (more sleep, no WTO membership, no removal of spying and military installations set-up all around Russia and no scrapping of that crazy anti-missiles' shield) ? Then, russian leaders will have to keep on binding over in front of the occidental mondialisation's masters, like our french prostitutes politicians do so well. Would-it be better if Mr Obama, who could be a decent human, has to face the reals facts and prove his integrity and sincerity. So far, he has done nothing concret except: bla-bla-bla. We must admit, once and for all that the actual World governance is a total faillure. Humanity deserve better, mostly when she could follow a good and very possible russian or BRIC example...
