New Board member for TNK-BP elected on Friday

Published 11 July, 2008, 13:54

Stan Polovets, the chief executive of the AAR consortium which represents Russian shareholders, has won a seat on the TNK-BP board.

AAR nominated Polovets to replace Jean-Luc Vermeulen, who stepped down at the end of May when the conflict between the shareholders escalated.

The AAR group has previously called for the dismissal of the company's American CEO Robert Dudley and other managers. But earlier this week representatives from BP voted against his removal.

On Thursday, British Petroleum said that more than 30 foreign staff would have to leave Russia by the end of the month to renew their visas, and warned this could harm the firm's operations.
