500 masterpieces on display also feature the present Russian capital, Moscow, as it was in the 19th century – an artistic gem under the reign of the last two Tsars, Alexander III and his son Nicholas II.

"The Romanov dynasty reigned over Russia for three hundred years. All the sovereigns without exception were crowned in the Cathedral of the Dormition in the Kremlin. The coronation and anointment ceremonies restored the ancient capital to its former glory after it had been dispossessed by St. Petersburg. Through this exhibition, the visitor will rediscover a Moscow which foreign visitors often neglect in favor of St. Petersburg,” explains expert in Russian culture, Brigitte de Montclos.

The idea behind the exhibition was to recreate an authentic Russian atmosphere, including the Orthodox liturgy, architecture, and churches of the capital.

The exhibition also shows off impressive jewelry, such as gold and silverwork pieces, and famous Fabergé Easter eggs created for the Tsars Alexander III and Nicholas II.
