The music fair this year kicked off with a concert by celebrated Russian pianist Denis Matsuev. The festival program is rich and varied, featuring 24 concerts performed by up-and-coming and established musicians from around the world, including Boris Berezovsky, Nikolaï Lugansky and John Lill.

Artistic director of the Festival is celebrated Russian violinist/conductor Vladimir Spivakov whose performances are booked months in advance. One of the highlights of his performance in France will be Grieg's famous Peer Gynt Suite.

The festival also focuses on a variety of symphonic pieces, featuring no less than three orchestras and four conductors, including the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra.

As a tribute to Svyatoslav Richter's German origins, German musicians and composers will be "guests of honor" at the 2009 edition of the international fest.
