Professionally organized car frenzy

Published 11 July, 2009, 17:06

Living up to its name, cars that look like spaceships and rare vehicles dating back to the beginning of the 20th century have graced the international “Autoexotics” show currently underway in Moscow.

More than 2,000 cars are on display and thousands of spectators are expected at the ten-day event, which some have called a “professionally organized folly.”

For the owners of the cars they are not just a form of transport but sacred objects, and no amount of money will stop them from giving them the most sophisticated tuning.

“Despite the crisis, the work on retro cars continues and it never abates,”
said one of the participants. “I think that it grows even more intense.”

So much so that some are using the show to raise more money for their beloved toys. A humorous inscription on one of the vehicles at the show reads:

“Please help to buy a new engine!”
