Five minutes of shame

Five minutes could now be the maximum amount of time one is expected to spend at a public lavatory in the small Baltic town of Klaipeda in the former Soviet Republic of Lithuania.
Local authorities are hoping this could help fight vandalism in the city.
According to Delfi news agency, citing Lietuvos Rytas daily, hooligans breaking automatic public lavatories should be caught right at the scene of crime should they happen to spend more than five minutes in a lavatory.
There are two automatic lavatories in Klaipeda. The authorities have spent almost $400,000 on their installment, but are unsatisfied with the current state of their use. In a recent incident in June, vandals broke the coin collectors.
With an automatic blocking system installed, the only way to get out of such toilet will be with the help of a specialist.
It is not clear though why such a short amount of time has been chosen and whether it could be enough for non-hooligans to do their business in the Lithuanian lavatory.
It could be the shortest amount of time welcome to spend in a lavatory in the world. Even the strict security system in Paris gives those in need whole 15 minutes to relieve themselves before it automatically opens the doors, regardless of the circumstances.
