Rich and famous show off at “Millionaire Fair”

Russia’s rich and famous have flocked to the summer edition of the “Millionaire Fair” in Moscow to prove they still have money to burn.
The theme of this summer’s event is the wedding day. Wedding dress boutiques, spa salons, expensive cars and jet skiing – all intended to make newlyweds happy on their big day.
The items on sale range from a relatively affordable but rare Serval cat, at a mere $21,000, to a fantastically expensive wedding dress that will set you back more than $1 million.
Maria Pronenko, a wedding dress salon owner, said that although the economic crisis is making her customers ask for a discount more often, they won’t be running out of clients anytime soon.
“Russian women like to look rich,” she explained.
The gala opening ceremony has become a real earth shaker, particularly the legendary “100 Most Invited” party that takes place on opening night – the event is a magnet for prominent artists and cultural icons.
Late Saturday, however, promises more delights, and the bride fashion show is expected to be the highlight of the evening.
Russia’s strive for the luxurious is the same as anywhere else in world, says Elena Kodozova, the organizer of the Millionaire Fair.
“Luckily, people are still buying luxury goods despite the financial crisis. And we are just putting our effort into battling the crisis,” says Elena. “This time we are talking about Millionaire Fair, but Billionaire Fair is yet to come and I’m pretty sure about it,” added Elena, in a positive voice.
