Take us to our embassy

Published 03 April, 2009, 16:41

UFO religion the Raëlian Movement has asked Lithuania to provide a land lot to build an embassy for diplomats from space.

The land with the area of several square kilometers should be in a rural area outside of a ‘navigation zone’, said the country’s Raëlian leader Vitalyus Prastsenyus during a press conference on Thursday, reports BNS news agency.

Prior to the Lithuanian proposal, the Raëlian Movement had intended on building an embassy in Jerusalem, but since the Israeli government declined on several occasions to provide ‘extra-territoriality’ to the land on which they intended to build, they shifted their efforts elsewhere.

The government should also give the future alien embassy all benefits enjoyed by embassies of foreign countries under the Geneva Convention.

Raëlians promise the construction will bring financial and scientific benefits for the country, when the extraterrestrial civilisation eventually makes contact with Earth.

An official request has been sent to Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and Parliamentary Chairman Arunas Valinskas.

Raëlism adepts believe humanity was genetically engineered by an advanced space-faring civilisation. The aliens were perceived as gods and angels during the early centuries of history, and they will establish official contact with Earth and share their knowledge when humanity is peaceful enough not to mishandle alien technology.
