Honest kid ruins Iranian TV show

An Iranian children TV show was axed after a girl said her father named her toy monkey after the country’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The show’s seven years of success didn’t stop national broadcaster IRIB from axing it following the embarrassing live episode. The final episode is to be screened next week, reports the Guardian newspaper on Wednesday.
A conservative website, Jahan News – quoting ‘reliable sources’ – said the decision was prompted by the ‘high financial and spiritual damage’ inflicted by live broadcasts. It didn’t name Iran’s leader directly, but did refer to a child who “compared its doll to one of the well-known authorities.”
The show had faced similar gaffes when other naïve children were also seemingly oblivious to issues sensitive in Islamic society. In one instance a kid, when asked to hand the phone to his mother or father, said he couldn’t, because they were in the shower together.
