The city of Krasnoyarsk is preparing to greet the New Year with the tallest festive tree in the whole of Russia.

Some 13.000 residents of the city gathered to see the 46-metre-high tree in the city’s main square.

It has a metal frame and 15,000 artificial branches, and decorated with 5,000 lights, which change colour every 30 minutes, and 2,000 decorations.

The theme of the city this year is Pushkin’s stories with characters that are familiar to all Russians.
