New Russian Miss Maxim drives off to global contest

Russia holds numerous beauty contests, reflecting the world renowned beauty of its women. The recent 'Miss Maxim' event saw this year’s Russian winner drive away from Moscow’s B1 Club in an exclusive sportscar.
The event is named after the men’s magazine and is part of a worldwide competition. Predictably, it attracts a large male audience. This year's final included 10 finalists and performances by top Russian female singers.
Alexander Malenkov, editor-in-chief of Maxim Magazine, stresses that they didn’t want to choose the just the most beautiful, but the sexiest of the selected girls. He also notes that the Russian 'Miss Maxim' contest is quite different from those in other countries.
“This is the Russian part of an international contest. But we are the only country that has a prize for a local winner – the car,” said Malenkov.
In the presence of the jury and top Russian celebrities Evgeniya Neronskaya, became a new Miss Maxim and was given the keys to a magnificent Mazda RX8. Miss Neronskaya will now go to the international final.
