Much has changed in the city since the tragedy. Two new schools have been built and aid has flooded in to help survivors put their lives back together.

Zhanna Dzgoeva is taking her daughter Fatima to Germany for specialist treatment with Red Cross help. Fatima sustained an injury to her head when she was caught in the middle of a gun battle, and in the past four years has learned to eat, walk and talk for the second time in her life. Her sister did not survive the carnage.

Four years on, gaping holes in the walls of School Number One are still stuffed with flowers left by friends and relatives of the victims.
