The stakes were high for both Spartak and Dynamo going into their Premier League clash in the capital. But neither side could prevail in a thrilling Moscow derby at the Luzhniki Stadium, where it finished 1-1.
Despite little possession, it was the visitors Dynamo who struck first through the boot of Alexander Kerzhakov. It was his fourth goal of the season.
The home side rallied after the interval and Artyom Dzyuba finally got the interval when he converted from a looping free-kick.
The draw won't satisfy either side.
Dynamo could have moved to within two points of league leaders Rubin while Spartak had the chance to climb to third in the table for at least 24 hours.
