A drunk student from Birmingham choked to death on fairy cakes after stuffing five of them into his mouth during a prank.
34-year-old Adam Deeley and his friends had been attending the opening night of a photography exhibition in Swansea when they began helping themselves to the leftover buffet.
One of the group crammed three fairy cakes into his mouth while another went one better with four.
The inquest heard that the mature student then stuffed five cakes into his mouth in a bid to outdo his mates.
A few moments later he started choking, before collapsing and dying.
Steven Jenkins, who took part in the competition, told the hearing the cake eating challenge was 'impromptu'.
Deeley is reported to have been drunk on the night of the tragedy.
