The concert was named AFRO-Diziac – and it lived up to its title. Superstars from Nigeria, South Africa and Germany got the capital tapping its feet as they ran through their hits for an adoring audience.

The concert of African artists is the first event of its kind in Moscow. 2 Face Idibia is a world name in African music. He’s “The Best African Artist” and holder of numerous other honorary prizes.

The performers who travelled with him say music is the most important thing in his life.

“Music is food for the soul. It’s everything. It’s my work. And it’s fun. This is what I love to do,” 2 Face’s Idibia said.

The organisers not only wanted to introduce African music to Russian audiences, they also aimed to gather African people living in Moscow in one place for a night to share the energy.

African music shaped a lot what we know today as blues, jazz or hip-hop. These styles have all borrowed from African rhythms and sounds.
