Iranian movie grabs first prize in Moscow

The winners of this year’s Moscow Film Festival have been announced at a ceremony at the Pushkin Cinema. A domestic drama from Iran scooped the top prize,The Golden George, for the best film.
Stars from home and abroad packed the venue to hear the winners announced.
A film named ‘As simple as that’ from director Reza Mir Karimi tells the story of an ordinary woman and her family problems. It reveals how Iranian cinema has developed in recent years. Its focus has moved from difficult philosophical questions to people's every day life.
The special jury prize, The Silver George, went to France for Marion Laine’s ‘Simple Heart’. The Festival’s jury, headed by Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann, said the movies they enjoyed were all simple films.
Bulgarian Javor Gardev was named the best director for ‘Zift’, a surrealistic black and white stylisation of 1940s film noir.
American Richard Jenkins and Italian Margherita Buy won the best actor and best actress awards.
And French star, Isabelle Huppert, received the special prize ‘I believe. K. Stanislavsky’ for her outstanding achievements in acting and for her devotion to the performing principles of Konstantin Stanislavsky's school.
