Axe legend Lenny Kravitz rocks Moscow

Lenny Kravitz has made a stop in Moscow as part of his European tour. The U.S. guitarist and singer thrilled fans at the annual rock extravaganza held at the Maxidrom in the city's Olimpysky stadium. Also on the bill were many of Russia's leading bands.

Kravitz is on the road to promote his brand new album: ‘It's Time for a Love Revolution’, released in February this year. It's a blend of funk, jazz and soul and it's the first time ever he's appeared in Moscow following a performance in Saint Petersburg. His next destination is Ukraine.

The Maxidrom rock festival is the best opportunity to see Russia's most popular rock bands.

As well as Russian rock groups the festival also highlights some of the world's best artists.  Bands such as America’s Placebo and Sweden’s The Cardigans have made appearances in Moscow in previous years.

But the festival is also available to newcomers. They’re selected by a website poll at one of Russia's popular radio stations, Maximum, who also organise the festival.

This year’s lucky novice was Noize MC. His quirky mix of rock and hip hop rhythms alongside sincere and provoking lyrics topped the country's radio charts and paved the way to his appearance at the Maxidrom.

“Though I perform at this popular festival, I'm not going to follow the rules of show business. On the contrary, I oppose it and my lyrics prove that,” he said.

The Maxidrom festival has been held annually since 1995 and attracts thousands of rock lovers. It remains the Russian rock scene’s most representative festival.
