The Kremlin Mile: the healthy way to celebrate Russia Day

Celebrations have taken place across the country to mark Russia Day. The main sporting event, the Kremlin Mile, was held in the heart of the Russian capital.
For many people June 12 is synonymous with national unity. A healthy way of life has become another slogan for this day.
Every year thousands of runners put on their jogging shoes and make their way to the centre of Moscow.
Some kids took part in a different race to encourage more youngsters to get involved in sport. They ran along the Golden Ring route – a group of cities around Moscow that have a special place in Russia's heritage.
