Spartak fails to beat league’s worst team

Last year’s runners-up, Spartak Moscow, continue struggling in Russia’s Premier League as they failed to beat FC Moscow. After the match that ended 1-1 Spartak find themselves in mid-table, while their rivals are two points adrift at the bottom.

Spartak clinched their first win of the season last week at Nalchik, and seemed to be well on the way to their second, when Aleksandr Pavlenko made good use of goalkeepr Yury Zhevnov’s blunder ten minutes into the second half.
But the under-achieving visitors, who are still to win a game this season, were able to pull level through Hektor Brakamonte. The Argentinian brilliantly nodding in Pyotr Bystrov's cross.
Locomotiv 0 Spartak Nalchik 0
Another Moscow side unable to find their best form is Locomotiv.
All the main events of Railway boys’ encounter with Nalchik took place in stoppage time. First, Gogita Gogua from the visiting team was sent-off.
Second, Locomotiv got a chance to finally open the scoring from penalty after a hand play in Nalchik’s box. But Peter Odemvingie’s shot was saved by Dmitry Khomich.
Nevertheless, a draw let Locomotiv climb to second spot in the table. They are now level on points with Dinamo, but the leaders, Rubin Kazan, are seven points ahead.
