Spaniards flock to Slavic festival

Russian bands have performed in Barcelona to introduce Spanish audiences to Slavic culture. The Slavic Spring festival featured choirs and orchestras from Omsk, Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod.

A 200-year-old hall at the Barcelona University served as the venue for the event. The hall opens several times a year for important guests and the annual student inauguration.

“The culture has played a very important role in the relationship between Russia and Spain for centuries,” says Aleksandr Kuznetsov, Russia’s ambassador to Spain.

Judging by the hundreds of Spanish fans at the festival, the relationship will last for years to come.
