‘Rotting NATO’ given fish burial by activists

Published 04 April, 2008, 14:23

Activists from the Young Guards youth movement joined other protesters in central Moscow to stage an anti-NATO demonstration. They buried a fish to symbolise what they say is ‘the rotting of NATO’.

Fish, they said, always begin rotting at the head: so NATO, led by the U.S., is rotting from the top down.

The purpose of the ‘Stop NATO’ demonstration was to protest against the possible accession of Georgia and Ukraine to the alliance.

Two of the activists were detained by police, according to reports.
