Russian icon rock diva Zemfira has delighted fans by playing a greatest hits concert at Moscow's vast Olympiysky Stadium. The gig on April 1st was the final leg of her “Thanks” tour across Russia.
The concert was mixed by the same team who mix the sound for pop icon Madonna and legendary British rocker Peter Gabriel.
Although the Olympiysky venue seats 35,000 people, it wasn’t big enough for the legions of fans who wanted tickets for the four-hour show.
On the same date eight years ago the Olympiysky Stadium hosted one of Zemfira’s first stadium concerts.
An ethnic Tatar, Zemfira was born into an ordinary middle-class family. She started music lessons when she was four years old and by the age of seven she'd produced her first song.
Her heyday was at the turn of the century, when her energy and songs won the hearts of music fans across the nation.
The talented singer-songwriter has so far released seven albums.
