The great escape: police seek snouted runaways

Published 01 April, 2008, 12:22

A truck carrying pigs from St Petersburg to Moscow has overturned in Russia's Tver region, releasing the animals into the wild.

The driver had parked the truck by the side of the highway to take a short break when the accident happened.

Parked on muddy ground, the truck tipped over – setting its payload of pigs free in the surrounding area.

Police are trying to figure out how to round up the animals and transport them to their destination.
