China’s Olympic village put under microscope

Members of the International Olympic Committee are in Beijing to inspect the plans and buildings at the Olympic village, ahead of the games in August.

The complex will house about 16,000 competitors and officials, and facilities will include shopping centres, worship rooms and a 24-hour restaurant.

The venue will feature environmentally friendly technologies, such as solar water heaters.
